NHS Spring Musical- The SpongeBob Musical


When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world.

Norton City Schools Names Barb Markland as New Treasurer

Norton City Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Barb Markland as the district’s new Treasurer, effective April 1, 2025. Her contract will extend through July 31, 2028.

Ms. Markland brings extensive experience and financial expertise to the district. Most recently, she served as a School Fiscal Consultant with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. Prior to that, she held Treasurer positions with both Green Local Schools (Wayne County) and Tuslaw Local Schools, where she demonstrated a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency. Additionally, Ms. Markland worked for the State of Ohio Auditor’s Office, further strengthening her knowledge of public finance and compliance.

She holds degrees in accounting and business administration (MBA) and is licensed as both an Ohio School Treasurer and Ohio School Business Manager.

“We are excited to welcome Barb to Norton,” said Board President Elisa Staats. “Her deep knowledge of school finance and her proven success in other districts make her an excellent fit for our schools and community.”

As Treasurer, Ms. Markland will oversee the district’s financial operations and play a vital role in advancing the educational mission of Norton City Schools.
